After making his debut in the Springboks' 19-13 win over Ireland on Saturday, prop Steven Kitshoff commented on rumours linking him with a return to South Africa from Bordeaux, where he currently plays his club rugby.

"I've got a year left on my contract in Bordeaux, but I'm keeping my options open for the future," said the 24-year old ex-Stormers prop.

"I'm always keen to come back because South Africa is my home and I want to represent my country and I want to represent this amazing side."

"Nothing [has]actually been put on the table, but I'm keeping my options open."

Springbok coach Allister Coetzee has repeatedly said that he would like his best players – including Kitshoff – playing their rugby in South Africa.

Nevertheless, on Saturday, Coetzee gave Kitshoff a chance to shine – bringing him and Julian Redelinghuys on for Tendai "Beast" Mtawarira and Frans Malherbe.

On his debut, Kitshoff said: "Myself and Julian hyped ourselves up – even starting from Tuesday – and luckily the first movement when we were on the field was a scrum, and it actually went well. We got the penalty and it was a good result for us."

"I think Beast and Frans did really well in the scrums. They put down the platform and me and Julian just took over from them – and we just had to build on their confidence. I think going into the game, that was one of our plans, and we actually executed it quite well."
