The 10th Grahamstown National Music Competition, hosted by Rhodes University Department of Music and Musicology, kicks off on Wednesday 22 June at 7.30 pm with an opening recital in the Beethoven room by pianist Andrew Duncan, a prizewinner in the 2014 competition.
The 10th Grahamstown National Music Competition, hosted by Rhodes University Department of Music and Musicology, kicks off on Wednesday 22 June at 7.30 pm with an opening recital in the Beethoven room by pianist Andrew Duncan, a prizewinner in the 2014 competition.
Forty-five young musicians from all over South Africa have been accepted to participate in this prestigious music competition, 10 of whom are local Grahamstown residents from St Andrew's Prep, DSG, VG, Graeme College and Rhodes University.
Entry to the public is free for the opening rounds, which are scheduled as follows:
Thursday 23 June Round 1: 8.30-11.30am Tertiary category; 11.45am -1pm Junior category; 1.45- 6.30pm Senior category.
Friday 24 June Round 1: 8.30-11.30am Tertiary category; 11.45am-1pm Junior category; 1.45 – 6.30pm Senior category.
Saturday 25 June Semi-final round: 9am-1pm.
Finals will be at 7.30pm. Tickets available at the door, R70 adults, R30 concessions.
