The third Radio Grahamstown, RMR, Grocott's Election Connection 2016 debate takes place tomorrow at Noluthando Hall at 5.30pm.

The third Radio Grahamstown, RMR, Grocott's Election Connection 2016 debate takes place tomorrow at Noluthando Hall at 5.30pm.

The previous two debates have seen some hotly contested issues and strongly expressed opinions.

Both organisers and political parties have learned a great deal from the process of putting together these first two events and this third outing promises to be the most engaging yet.

There are agreed specific time allocations for both questions and answers in order to get as many voices heard as possible and all parties have undertaken to make sure their supporters conduct themselves in an orderly way and to respect the process.

As always, there will representatives from all five of the major parties contesting the local elections in Makana on the panel.
Panelists include: Nozipho Plaatjie – Cope; Buntu Plaatjie – UF; Mzwandile Qotoyi (EFF); Xolani Mvula (DA); Andile Hoyi (ANC).
The MC is Ntsiki Mazwai and the debate chair is Xolani Kondile.

Questions are welcome on any topic relevant to the forthcoming elections and how each party is intending to make Makana a great place to be. Particularly relevant topics are how to keep citizens safe – particularly with regard to rape and gender-based and sexual violence, the issue that has been at the forefront of the recent protests on Rhodes campus – and, since the country has just marked Workers' Day, the subject of job creation.

Listen out to Radio Grahamstown 102.1FM tomorrow (Wednesday morning) to hear senior Grocott's reporter, Anele Mjekula and chair Xolani Kondile preview the debate and to talk about some of the issues expected to come up.
