But the Masters at Augusta has its own way of throwing up a champion as the drama unfolds each year once the golfers have driven down Magnolia Lane leading to the famed the Georgia venue.

This time golf enthusiasts have additional viewing each day. Besides the live coverage, a second channel will show the best of the coverage received on SS8 at 4pm each day. Live coverage from Friday to Sunday will be on SS6 (9pm and 8pm on Sunday).

One man desperately hoping to buck a myth which has emerged at Augusta will be American Jimmy Walker after acing a hole to win the Masters Par-3 contest on Wednesday on eight-under-par 19. Nobody who has ever won the Par-3 contest has gone on to win the Masters so history beckons for Walker.

There is a real smorgasbord of rugby this weekend from the Blitzboks to a classic schools encounter.

The Stormers will continue their surge in their Super Rugby challenge when they host the Sunwolves and despite the Japanese team’s loss to the Southern Kings last weekend, the home side should not be complacent on Friday (SS1, 6.30pm).

The Kings, meanwhile, will be hoping to add further credibility to their Super Rugby status when they host the Bulls in Port Elizabeth on Saturday (SS1, 7.05pm). Was the win over the Sunwolves a fluke or can they upset a Bulls team yet to fire on all cylinders this season?

The Blitzboks are back in action in one of sevens’ iconic events when they challenge for the Hong Kong title. It’s a tight race for supremacy in the World Series and the Blitzboks will be desperate for another title.

But before contemplating the playoffs, they will have to handle England on Friday (SS6, 2.50pm), and Russia (SS6, 7.54am) and Scotland on Saturday (SS6, 11.54am).

The Cup semifinals on Sunday start from 9.44am (SS1), with the final scheduled for 1pm.

South Africa’s famous Currie Cup may be playing second fiddle to Super Rugby at this stage but there will still be plenty of passion when Western Province and the Blue Bulls kick off proceedings on Friday (SS1, 4pm).

Schools often provide the most entertainment in rugby and there should be a thrilling contest in Stellenbosch when Paul Roos Gymnasium host Grey High in the first of the Mutual & Federal Premier matches (SS6, 2.05pm).

In the ring, American Charles Martin will put his IBF heavyweight title on the line when he faces British Olympian Anthony Joshua on Saturday (SS7, 9pm).
