Police have made an urgent appeal for information about the shooting of two rhinos on a property near Grahamstown. They were discovered early on Thursday 31 March.

Police have made an urgent appeal for information about the shooting of two rhinos on a property near Grahamstown. They were discovered early on Thursday 31 March.

This comes just over a week after five rhinos were attacked at Sibuya Game Reserve, on the Kariega River, near Kenton.
In the latest attack, police released very little information in the following statement:

"At approximately 8.30 this morning a chopper pilot was gathering his herd of buffalo at a game farm just outside Grahamstown when he spotted the two rhinos.

"Both the mother and her calf were shot. One of them was dehorned," said Eastern Cape SAPS spokesperson Colonel Sibongile Soci.

Soci said a criminal case had been opened for investigation.

"An urgent appeal is made for information that may assist in the investigation," Soci said.

Members of the public can contact their nearest police station, or call SAPS Crime Stop at 08600 10111, or Crime Line at 32211.
"All information will be treated as confidential," Soci said.
