A statement from the Presidency yesterday said that, last month (on 25 January) the Eastern Cape Provincial Chairperson of CONTRALESA, Inkosi Mwelo Nonkonyane asked the President to refer a request for consideration of a presidential pardon for King Buyelekhaya Dalindyebo to the Department of Justice and Correctional Services.

The King is currently serving a 12-year jail sentence for assault‚ kidnapping and arson in East London.
