St Andrew’s College pupil, Anthony Dakin made history when he became the first player in the Coca-Cola Khaya Majola Cricket Week to score a hundred in a T20 match.
Playing for the Eastern Province U19 side, Anthony was named the Coca-Cola Hero of the day for day 3 (18 December) of the Coca-Cola® Khaya Majola Cricket Week.
St Andrew’s College pupil, Anthony Dakin made history when he became the first player in the Coca-Cola Khaya Majola Cricket Week to score a hundred in a T20 match.
Playing for the Eastern Province U19 side, Anthony was named the Coca-Cola Hero of the day for day 3 (18 December) of the Coca-Cola® Khaya Majola Cricket Week.
The prestigious Coca-Cola Hero of the Day award is presented on each day of the tournament in recognition of a game changing ‘hero’ moment. Anthony was selected for the award by a Coca-Cola appointed panel of cricket experts after he achieved something that no one in the history of the tournament has ever achieved.
Anthony became the first ever player in the Coca-Cola Khaya Majola Cricket Week to score a hundred in a T20 match after hitting 107 not out for Eastern Province in their match against Northern Cape. What made the score even more important is that it set Eastern Province on their way to their first win of the tournament.
“When I went to the crease today my only thoughts were to keep up the intensity on the field and to convert ones into twos and twos into threes. I tried to play each ball on merit. Keeping the game simple helped me score my hundred and help my team win their first game,” said Anthony.
