Between 21 – 23 October, 300 shops owned by foreign nationals in Grahamstown were looted, leaving hundreds of residents displaced.

In the wake of the looting a group of local women, married to those residents, decided to take action.

Calling themselves “Voices of the Foreigners’ Wives”, they demanded that more attention be paid to the plight of the shop owners and for measures to be taken to reintegrate their families back into the community.

This short film documents their solidarity through hardship and intimidation and their efforts to have their voices heard.

NB: We apologise for the fact that we included an incorrect link to the video in last Friday's paper.
