SAFA president and Mayor of Port Elizabeth, Dr Danny Jordaan, will be in Grahamstown on Saturday for the SAFA graduation ceremony due to take place at the Settlers Monument.

SAFA president and Mayor of Port Elizabeth, Dr Danny Jordaan, will be in Grahamstown on Saturday for the SAFA graduation ceremony due to take place at the Settlers Monument.

He will be joined by the MEC for Sport Dr Pemmy Majodina.

Last year SAFA – in partnership with PPC Cement – launched a R10 million talent development programme in the Eastern Cape aimed at indentifying talented youngsters between seven and 13 in all eight of Safa’s regions in the province.

The programme also focused on training referees, coaches and administrators. The initiative formed part of SAFA's Vision 2022 initiatitve.

The intention, as coverage said at the time, was to "build a talent identification and development pipeline with the 57 local football associations in the province and see the training of coaches with the aim of having a 1:20 coach to player ratio".

Courses have been run all round the Eastern Cape over the past year and, on Saturday, Jordaan will hand out SETA and SAFA /CAF and FIFA certificates to 340 delegates who participated in the programme – some of whom are from Grahamstown.

PPC Cement, will also use the opportunity to honour Jordaan with a Top Achievement Award and Special Gift for his commitment to Football Development – especially in the Eastern Cape – and his Excellence in Football Administration throughout the world
