Joza Karate Club on Thursday 24 September, hosted a training session at the new Indoor Sports Centre conducted by Shihan Koos Burger, the head of the South African Shotokan Karate Academy.

“This will be a great opportunity for our township children to train with the Shihan,” said organiser and instructor at Joza Karate Club, Mzwandile Matebese.

At the end of the session, East Cape Shotokan-Ryu head instructor, Gary Grapentin, thanked Burger for taking time out to support the Joza club.

He said they were privileged to have Burger, who has over 50 years of experience, take the session.

Burger said it was important for him to be able to share his knowledge and give back to the communities.

“We need to help each other,” he said.
