    11 Grahamstown players for Craven Week

    Grahamstown was well represented at last week’s Coca-Cola Craven Week U18 tournament with a total of 11 players forming part of the EP and EP Country District sides.

    Grahamstown was well represented at last week’s Coca-Cola Craven Week U18 tournament with a total of 11 players forming part of the EP and EP Country District sides.

    Zaci Sandi of St Andrew’s was the only Grahamstown player to be selected for the EP side, while Athi Halom (Kingswood), Siba Mzanywa (Kingswood), Anthony Dakin (St Andrew's), Luyolo Tshangwina (Graeme), Mike van Breda (Kingswood), Ewan Pieters (Kingswood), Thembi Mangwana (Kingswood), Jason Liesmore (Kingswood), Xolile Mdlokovana (St Andrew's), Grant Dixie (St Andrew's) were part of the EP Country District side.

    Anthony Dakin was the team captain, while Nathaniel Nyaluza rugby coach and teacher George Lamani was the team manager.

    The EP CD side lost their opening game 27-43 against the Valke before bouncing back on day two to beat Zimbabwe 51-20.

    In their final fixture on Saturday, EP CD lost 51-10 to Griquas. The EP side won their first two games – 41-31 against SWD Eagles and 23-22 against KwaZulu-Natal – before being crushed 0-95 against DHL Western Province in the final match of the tournament.
