The Grahamstown police are appealing for the public's help to solve five of the most gruesome murder cases to rock the city in recent years. Some of these unresolved cases, which left the community reeling with shock, date back to 2013.

The Grahamstown police are appealing for the public's help to solve five of the most gruesome murder cases to rock the city in recent years. Some of these unresolved cases, which left the community reeling with shock, date back to 2013.

One of the incidents is the murder case of a Joza couple who were killed at their home on 9 February 2013.

Nonzwakazi Adam, 38, and Landi January, 32, were assaulted with what was believed to be a pick handle.

Adam died at the scene while January was rushed to hospital in a critical condition and later succumbed to his injuries.

According to the police, the incident happened at 120B Ncame Street in Joza in the early hours that day.

Their housemate, who went to investigate why the dog was barking, was stabbed in the neck.

Despite a series of interviews with neighbours and possible witnesses, the suspects remain at large.

Meanwhile police are still searching for suspects in connection with the 2013 discovery of the body of 13-year-old Sihle Masinda.

Sihle's body was found by workers conducting a survey on a sewer line in Extension 7 on 9 December.

Her body was found covered with rocks.

Several people had been questioned with no positive results, police said.

In a recent incident on 2 April, an unknown man, believed to be in his 20s, died on his way to hospital after he was found lying near Joza Old Age Home.

According to a statement from the police, the man was found at approximately 4am.

Two male suspects aged 19 and 22, have made a brief appearance in the Grahamstown Magistrate's Court.

An appeal is made to any person who may be able to identify the victim and locate his family or relatives, to contact the investigating officer.

On 1 August 2014, 26-year-old Luvuyo Zondani, better known as 'Vista', was found dead with severe injuries to his upper body.

According to the police the incident happened at number 64 New Cottages.

The victim died at the scene after he was attacked by several males, police said.

The police said despite interviewing several peoples, the perpetrators are still at large.

On 27 April 2014, 22-year-old Mcebiseni Ntshayini was found with a fatal wound to the side of his abdomen.

Police said a screwdriver and a spent 9mm cartridge were seized as exhibits at the scene.

One suspect was arrested and later released due to insufficient evidence.

Anyone with information is urged to call investigating officer Detective Warrant Officer John Manzana of the Joza Detective Branch.

He may be reached at 082 779 7117 all hours.
