A neat 20 subject A-symbols was Hoerskool PJ Olivier's prize for a year of hard work for the 2014 National Senior certificate exams.

Carla Brisley was the top 2014 matric exam achiever at PJ Olivier, achieving an A aggregate.

Gustine Hendrikz just missed out on an A aggregate: if Life Orientation had also been taken into consideration, Gustine would have achieved an A aggregate, according to head of department at PJ Olivier, Erika Esterhuizen.

PJ achieved a total of 16 Bachelor level passes, seven Diploma passes and three pupils passed with a Higher Certificate. There was a total of 20 subject As.

Esterhuizen said this was a better performance than in 2013. The four pupils who failed qualified for the supplementary examination and Esterhuizen said she was “very positive" that they would pass if they put in "one final effort”.

Esterhuizen thanked all the teachers who contributed to the success of the matric 2014 class and congratulated the learners on their “excellent results”.

    PJ results in summary: 30 Candidates Bachelor – 16 (53%) Diploma 7 (23%) Higher certificate 3 (10%) Supplementary exam candidates – 4
