    Missing boy’s body found in pond

    The body of 8-year-old Avuyile Nkovu, who had been missing for three days, was found early evening Monday 22 December.

    The body of 8-year-old Avuyile Nkovu, who had been missing for three days, was found early evening Monday 22 December.

    Grocott’s Mail reported yesterday that Avuyile had gone missing on Saturday. He was last seen by his brother after playing with friends in E Street, Fingo Village, Grahamstown.

    Avuyile left, saying he walking back going home in D Street.

    Captain Milanda Coetzer, South African Police Service, Grahamstown Crime Intelligence Officer, said the K9 unit found the body of Avuyile at the Matthews Street pond.

    Coetzer said it has been confirmed that the body is that of Avuyile Nkovu, and his family has been notified.

    Coetzer said it is presumed that Avuyile drowned in the pond, adding that the medical report will confirm the cause of his death.
