She said Navino’s friends and relatives were invited to attend the Requiem mass, a traditional mass for the dead in the Catholic Church.
Walker, who was in the final year of a BA degree, was found dead at his off-campus apartment on Thursday 23 October.
His friends became worried when he did not answer his phone after calling him numerous times. They found him unconscious in his bathroom after asking the land lord to unlock the door.
Grahamstown Police spokesperson Captain Mali Govender told Grocott’s Mail in a telephonic interview Tuesday there were no new leads as they are still awaiting an inquest hearing.
“We have prepared the necessary documents and sent them to the Magistrate so now it’s up to him to set the date of the hearing,” Govender said.
Acting Director of Student Affairs, Dr Colleen Vassiliou, is expected to attend the funeral on behalf of the university.
The Requiem mass will be held at St Albans Anglican Church, Durham Road, Vincent, East London at 11am, followed by a Committal Service at the Cambridge Crematorium Chapel at 1pm.
