Business robbed
Fishaways, in High Street, was robbed on Friday night, 26 September, according to South African Police Services, Grahamstown Crime Information Officer, Captain Milanda Coetzer.

Coetzer said at around 11pm on Friday night three armed men entered Fishaways. The shop was already closed for business as staff were cashing up. The men forced the staff into a back room, took the staff members cell phones and cash from the shop.

The three men left in a white sedan. Five men were later arrested.

Coetzer said one of the men involved was identified by an eye-wittness on the scene.

Cell phones and some of the money were recovered. Coetzee said the men should appear in court on Tuesday.

Body found in Joza
According to Coetzer, a body was found in the veld near Extension 9 on Saturday 27 September. The community reported the body to the police.

On arrival the police discovered that the man was still alive, Coetzer said. The police called an ambulance but by the time the medics arrived it was too late.

The medics tried to resuscitate the man at no avail.

Police arrested three men believed to be in connection with the man’s death. The men were attained and are expected to appear in court on Tuesday.

Coetzer said the police were alerted to both incidents (robbery and murder) by eye-witnesses coming forward, and thanked the community for their help.
