The Makana Local Football Association's junior league championship ended last weekend with Golden Brothers named U13 champs and City Pirates reigned in the U15 league.

Pirates took the honours after sweeping past their opponents, finishing the league with a solitary loss in their 12 encounters, finishing the season with a laid-back nine points gap from their nearest rivals.

The season also saw Pirates finish with a best defensive record of seven teams, having conceded just eight goals and scoring 26 in the process.

Golden Brothers needed only to avoid defeat in the U13 league against Sakhulutsha in their last match of the campaign to be crowned champions.

They beat their nearest challengers, Sakhulutsha, 3-1 to claim the league six points ahead of them. Their season ended with 10 wins in their 12 matches.

The Brothers proved to be lethal in front of goals this season, finishing as the highest scorers with an overwhelming 36 goals, an average of three goals per match while conceding just nine to finish with a joint best defensive record.

The two champions will now head to the regional junior play-offs on 27 September, when a squad for a provincial team will be selected.

The venue is still to be confirmed.
