Know the score: St Andrew’s cricket tour

St Andrew’s College enjoyed a superb pre-season cricket experience in Zimbabwe. They arrived home undefeated in both forms of cricket played.

St Andrew’s College enjoyed a superb pre-season cricket experience in Zimbabwe. They arrived home undefeated in both forms of cricket played.

Their two-day momentum was created by strong batting performances from the senior players, Nicholas Embling, Gordon Everard, Andrew Mills, Benjamin Dovey and Zach Melvill.

This gave the experienced Steven Green the opportunity to attack with his turning left arm spinners. Green claimed a total of 17 wickets in the two ‘test matches’. Captain Andrew Mills lead from the front with a fine 113 not out versus St George’s College and Nicholas Embling followed that up with a fluent 134 versus St John’s College (Harare).

Christopher McCarthy and Frank Norval provided the pace and aggression, unsettling the Zimbabwean batsman, and giving St Andrew’s well-earned victories in their two–day matches.

The St George’s 20/20 tournament proved to be St Andrew’s weekend in the sun! They won all their pool games and booked their spot in the final versus St John’s College (Harare) on Sunday afternoon. It was a pressure environment in front of a healthy crowd watching from their sponsored tents creating a tense atmosphere.

The team pulled through chasing down 157 with one ball to spare. St Andrew’s cricket tour to Zimbabwe: vs St George’s College (Harare) 2 Day match St George’s 161 all out (Steven Green 5/56, Christopher McCarthy 3/23).

St Andrew’s 214/9 declared (Andrew Mills 113 not out).

St George’s 124 all out (Steven Green 5/27, Frank Norval 3/24). St Andrew’s 74/1 (Benjamin Dovey 37, Nicholas Embling 29 not out).

St Andrew’s won by 9 wickets. vs St John’s College (Harare) 2 Day match St John’s 144 all out (Steven Green 4/29).

St Andrew’s 306/5 declared (Nicholas Embling 134, Andrew Mills 70, Benjamin Dovey 47, Zach Melvill 28 not out). St John’s 122 all out (Steven Green 3/22). St Andrew’s won by an innings and 40 runs.

Warm up match vs St John’s College (Harare) 20/20 match St Andrew’s 199/4 (Andrew Mills 67, Benjamin Dovey 64 not out).

St John’s 153/9 (Luke Birrell 3/16). St Andrew’s College won by 46 runs.

St George’s College (Harare) 20/20 Tournament vs St George’s St George’s 90 all out (Frank Norval 4/6).

St Andrew’s 91/4 (Benjamin Dovey 36 not out).

St Andrew’s College won by 6 wickets. vs St Benedict’s College St Andrew’s 152/4 (Gordon Everard 50, Benjamin Dovey 40 not out, Zach Melvill 24 not out). St Benedict’s 132/9 (Zach Melvill 3/20).

St Andrew’s won by 20 runs. vs Hellenic Academy Helenic Academy 150/4 (Nicholas Embling 2/15).

St Andrew’s 151/4 (Andrew Mills 46 not out). 

St Andrew’s won by 6 wickets. vs Peterhouse St Andrew’s 155/6 (Nicholas Embling 68, Stuart Hobson 27). 

Peterhouse 86/8 (Steven Green 3/13). 

St Andrew’s won by 69 runs. vs Prince Edward (Pool game, semi-final) St Andrew’s 159/5(Nicholas Embling 60).

Peterhouse 132 all out (Steven Green 2/17, Craig Stow 2/19).

St Andrew’s won by 23 runs. vs St John’s College (Harare) 20/20 Tournament final St John’s 157/8 (Benjamin Dovey 2/21, Frank Norval 2/41).

St Andrew’s 161/5 (Nicholas Embling 45, Stuart Hobson 44, Benjamin Dovey 19 not out, Bruce Phillips 11 not out). St Andrew’s won the final by 5 wickets.
