Excavations for the installation of sewage pipes in Extension 6 has been brought to a standstill after a laser level machine was stolen on Tuesday morning.

According to site supervisor Willie Walters, the machine worth R38 000 was stolen on site during construction. Walters said no construction will resume until the machine has been recovered.

"We won't be able to dig anymore because the machine serves as the guide to the work," he said. The machine is crucially used during surveying and construction.

Walters also revealed that his construction company has been a target for theft. Walters said on Sunday thieves drained fuel from one of the escavating trucks, further hindering the progress of the project.
