A disciplinary hearing committee in Makana municipality dealing with the case of strategic manager Mncedisi Boma yesterday dismissed him on grounds of misconduct, giving him 10 days to appeal the decision.
Two sources within Makana municipality have confirmed the dismissal. Speaking to Grocott's Mail last night Boma said he was not aware of his dismissal.
"No, I have not heard that. I am still waiting for their decision," said Boma. He said the last time he had met with the committee was during the closing arguments in his hearing.
Municipal spokesperson Yoliswa Ramokolo could not confirm the decision by the disciplinary committee. Boma was suspended in January after he was fingered in a R3 million scandal involving former municipal manager Pravine Naidoo.
A criminal case was opened against him earlier this year after a file containing critical information about Naidoo went missing from the municipal offices. When asked about the file in January, Boma denied having it in his possession.
The police confirmed opening a case of theft against him.
