We ask: when we live in a world full of turmoil and suffering, why do people in our town feel so strongly about this particular issue? What is the point of campaigning here, in our town, for peace in the Middle East? How important is it that we do so? And do we not focus on this issue at the expense of other problems closer to home? To help us explore these questions we invited to our studio Professor Robert Van Niekerk, Director of the Institute of Social and Economic Research; Dr Joy Owen, senior lecturer at the Rhodes Anthropology Department and Francis Williamson, lecturer at the Rhodes Philosophy Department.
