The police have appealed to anyone with information about a stabbing near Fikizolo Primary School in Grahamstown last weekend to contact them.

Shocked residents and passing motorists gathered outside the school on Saturday 16 August, as police cordoned off the area where the body of a man lay.

The body was found that morning outside the perimeter fence of the school at the bottom of a steep embankment, a few metres before the kaolin cuttings at the upper end of Dr Jacob Zuma Drive.

Grahamstown police spokesperson Captain Mali Govender confirmed a man had been found with stab wounds.

She said a case of murder is under investigation and that no arrests have been made.

Govender said the name of the deceased will be released once the next of kin have been informed.

    Anyone with information can call 046 603 9111 or 08600 10111
