A Grahamstown man who allegedly stabbed a teenager in his Joza home last month appeared briefly in the Grahamstown Magistrate's Court on Monday, on charges of assault with intent to cause grievous bodily harm.

The man is accused of attacking a 17-year-old boy while he was asleep in his home.

The boy was awoken by footsteps in the early hours of the morning on July 20. An intruder attacked him and he was taken to Livingstone Hospital in Port Elizabeth with stab wounds to his upper body and head. He was later discharged.

Neighbours of the Extension 8 teenager threatened to burn down the house of his alleged attacker soon after the incident.

The case was postponed to  27 August for further investigation.

    The accused remains in custody.
