Two Irish citizens face fraud charges after Alexandria police found three generators with the same serial number in their vehicle on Wednesday 6 August.
Grahamstown Police spokesperson Captain Mali Govender said a tip-off from a member of the public had led the police to the men, who were travelling in a rented Toyota LDV.
In a media statement, Govender said the canopy windows were sealed with black plastic bags and the rear flap covered with white plastic.
Three generators with the same serial number were found inside the vehicle, all labeled with the name, ‘Kraftech’.
An assortment of stickers was also found inside the vehicle, along with an undisclosed amount of cash.
The men, aged 35 and 37, were arrested and detained at Alexandria SAPS.
The Commercial Crime Unit in Port Elizabeth is investigating a charge of fraud, Govender said.
She said a syndicate was recently arrested in Port Elizabeth under similar circumstances.
