Rhodes Music Radio (RMR) presenter and student, Brian Mabe, will hand in his official resignation as Media Councillor of the Student Representative Council (SRC) at the end of this month. In Mabe’s absence, Secretary-General, Grace Moyo, as well as other SRC members, are taking over some responsibilities until the upcoming elections.

SRC Liason, Eric Ofei, says that while the SRC considered appointing a replacement but with the upcoming elections so close it seemed unnecessary to do so. Ofei says once new councillors are elected for the next year, there will be a shadowing period during which new councillors will learn the skills needed to run their respective portfolios.

SRC President, Bradley Bense, expressed his gratitude for Mabe's work.

"The SRC is an extremely taxing task on your emotions, academic and personal life," said Bense. Rhodes students can look forward to an exciting term with events such as the SRC elections and inter-varsity on the agenda.

Nominations for the 2015 SRC elections begin next week, from 30 July, with the process lasting until 22 August.
