The Toyota For tuner purchased by Council to be used to transport Makana Municipality Executive Mayor Zamuxolo Peter is yet again under risk of being auctioned off to cover municipal debts.

Last month the mayor's car narrowly avoided being auctioned. Municipal official Xolani Mbeleni saved the Mayor from embarrassment on Monday 9 June, as he narrowly avoided losing his car to the Sheriff.

Municipal officials, councillors and employees gathered in front of the city hall watching helplessly as Sheriff Witness Ntshokoma prepared to attach the R332 916 vehicle.

Tow trucks were called to remove the vehicle.

However, municipal labour relations officer Mbeleni came to the mayor's rescue, producing the proof of payment to Ntshokoma minutes before the tow truck arrived.

The mayor's black Toyota For tuner was to be auctioned in accordance with a high court ruling.

In a new twist, a notice of sale execution signed by attorney Arisha Moodley from Grahamstown lawyers Nolte Smit indicates that the vehicle will be auctioned on 25 July 2014 at the magistrate's court in Grahamstown

This is in terms of a judgment granted on 4 April 2014 and a warrant of execution served on 9 June 2014.

Africoast Engineering is listed as the execution creditor, while Makana Municipality is listed as execution debtor.
