    Freedom Day #selfies for 20 years of democracy

    Last September, as part of the build-up to Freedom Day 2014, the Department of Arts and Culture launched the “Freedom Fridays” Campaign.

    Last September, as part of the build-up to Freedom Day 2014, the Department of Arts and Culture launched the “Freedom Fridays” Campaign.

    The idea of “Freedom Fridays” is to encourage South Africans to show their national pride by dressing in anything that makes them feel proudly South African, snapping a pic and uploading it to Facebook, Twitter or Instagram with the hashtag #FreedomFridaySelfie and/or #20YOFSelfie.

    The campaign encourages South Africans to mark Freedom Day itself, with a proudly South African selfie.
