Thursday 17 April at 5pm is the deadline for special votes applications in this year’s national and provincial elections.

Thursday 17 April at 5pm is the deadline for special votes applications in this year’s national and provincial elections.

Over 75 000 applications have already been captured and approved for voters to cast a special vote on 5 and 6 May.

These include 57 000 home visits and 17 500 voters who will vote early at their voting stations.

Home visits are restricted to cases of physical infirmity, disability or pregnancy. Voters who will be absent from their registered voting district can apply to cast their vote early.

Unlike previous national and provincial elections, applications for special votes will no longer be accepted at voting stations on special voting days.

Applications have to be submitted no later than 5pm on Thursday 17 April to the local IEC office at 20 High Street.
