The Nobuhle (meaning ‘beautiful’ in isiXhosa) range of handmade soaps is made by a women’s group in the rural community of Glenmore.

Located near the Great Fish River in the former homeland area of the Ciskei in the Eastern Cape, the enterprise was started as a self-help initiative in 2012.

The group is made up of eight previously unemployed women.

This micro-enterprise was established in partnership with the Angus Gillis Foundation and provides a source of income for the group members and their households in an area of severe economic poverty and high unemployment.

Cathy Braans of Kwandwe Private Game Reserve said the Nobuhle soaps are provided as amenities in all the reserve's rooms and are sold at all safari shops throughout the reserve.
