Grahamstown’s Nandipha Nojozi will be heading off to Germany to take part in a women’s soccer tournament as part of the Eastern Cape’s provincial women’s side, African Connection.
Nojozi, who plays goal keeper for African Connection, was selected after playing in the Premier Cup tournament where she was spotted for the first time.
Her coach, Chris Totobela believes he had much to do with her development as he has coached her for over 10 years.
Totobela had much to say about the player.
“Nandipha has many strengths. She is a good listener. I would say her biggest strength is her height which she uses very effectively.”
“If there is one thing she needs to work on it is her communication with the rest of the field as she is very shy. But she is working on that issue very hard,” he said.
Totobela believes Nojozi is living proof of how sport can enrich peoples’ lives.
“She comes from a disadvantaged background and I am sure she would have never dreamed to be going to Germany. But now she will be travelling the world through sport,” he said.
Nojozi will be leaving for Germany at the end of April.
Totobela says African Connection will have to make other plans while Nojozi is overseas as they will miss her experience. He added that they have never been a one player team and should be fine.
