Kwandwe Game Reserve's chefs honoured World Cancer Day on Tuesday 4 February by making delicious cupcakes for Grahamstown Hospice's team of carers.

At the heart of Grahamstown Hospice’s work, the experienced interdisciplinary team includes highly trained palliative care doctors, nurses, social workers and care workers.

The team stays up to date with treatment regimens and are specialists in pain and symptom control. Grahamstown Hospice is currently looking after about 500 patients, of whom 150 suffer from cancer.

World Cancer Day 2014 focused on reducing stigma and dispelling myths about cancer, under the tagline, “Debunk the myths”. Currently, 7.6 million people die from cancer worldwide every year, of which 4 million people die prematurely (aged 30 to 69 years).
