The day after facing Pearson in an inter-schools cricket fixture, the Kingswood College first team was up against Port Alfred Cricket Club in a Grahamstown Cricket Board, Bathurst league fixture.

The Kingswood side continued their good form with a fine win over Port Alfred CC.

On a dry surface, which took spin early in the game, Port Alfred scored 162 all out, with Michael Braans the pick of the Kingswood bowlers with three for 14.

Brad Haller picked up three crucial wickets as well, and Tony Pedro enjoyed another spell for the 1sts, picking up two for 14.

Kingswood braced themselves for what promised to be a tough run chase on the dry pitch and a motivated Port Alfred CC team, especially after losing Daine Kruger early.

Kingswood lost their second wicket on 44, which again brought Haller and Marco Lombard together.

“They again showed their true class and maturity, putting together an unbeaten partnership of 119,” said Kingswood coach Gregg van Molendorff.

Haller ended on 58 not out, and Lombard on 62 not out.

    Kingswood won by eight wickets.
