There was a sense of massive exhilaration at Nathaniel Nyaluza high school on Tuesday 7 January as 2013s matrics collected their matric certificates.

This day saw Nathaniel Nyaluza High School slightly improving on their pass rate, with an additional 7% increase on the 33% they had last year.

"As much as we are not happy as the school since we achieved 40% while the district standard is 60%, last year we were 33% so there is a slight improvement that will in time meet the standard requirements and beyond," said Principal Zakunzima Tyala.

Principal Tyala continued by talking about their the aims for the year and plans to increase the percentage to reach the district standard and pride themselves as a school.

"The aim and the resolution for this year is to strive for a percentage beyond 60. We experienced a couple of problems and we got a relief after the former Benjamin Mahlasela closed-down, we then managed to scoop 5 teachers to help us through," said Principal Tyala.

"Starting this year all teachers are here but we still have a shortage because other teachers are now overloaded."

Deputy Principal Mahlalato Diko said the plan for this year is to achieve high, in light of the capacities of the new 2014 matrics.

"There is so much potential and a positive mental attitude. If parents can come handy and be supportive they are always welcome at our school. Teachers are keen and the quality of learners is very high," said Diko.
