Organisers of the second annual Kowie River Mile handed over a cheque for R30 000 to Sunshine Coast Hospice after the event on Sunday 29 December.
Swimmers from around the country, many in the area on holiday, took part in the annual race. There were 400m, 800m and mile (1.6km) events started at various points along the Kowie River, all ending at the Port Alfred Tourism office. Spar Eastern Cape sponsored the event and all proceeds went to Sunshine Coast Hospice.
