Cingiwe Funda and her husband Mbuzeli support their family by making and selling grass brooms – a trade they have been carrying out for more than 30 years.
Funda said she learnt the craft when she was younger, working at a farm in Cold Springs.
"I supported my five children by doing these brooms," she said. "I taught my husband and also my brothers.
"Everyone makes the brooms," Funda said. "It is team work."
Funda, 62, lives in Extension 9 with her family. She says although she is old, she enjoys making brooms.
"It is something I have been doing for a long time, so I enjoy it a lot. It helps us make a living," she said.
The family collects the grass and cuts sticks to make both long and short grass brooms, which they sell to fellow residents.
