As South African boxing legend Baby Jake Matlala was being laid to rest on Friday 13 December, Grahamstown boxing hero, Mziwoxolo Ndwayana kept the crowd on the edge of their seats in a televised fight.

Ndwayana's fight with Ayanda Mtungwa was a draw, with points given to both boxers.

    Mtungwa is from KwaZulu-Natal.

Bulelani Ndwayana, Mzoxolo's father and coach, said his son had started the fight well and there was no doubt he was winning.

"We were sure we were winning the game, but things changed when the judges presented their results," he said. Bulelani said from that fight, they had learnt not to finish rounds. Mziwoxolo and Mtungwa boxed six rounds.

According to Mziwoxolo, the fight was great. It was screened on DSTV.

"I knew I would win the fight and that boxer is still young," he said. "Experience speaks a lot in boxing. I was stronger and more mature," he said.
