Friday 15 November saw the official opening of the Joza Youth Hub, a community center which acts as a safe and stimulating place of study for the city's youth.

In the video below, Rhodes University Community Engagement Coordinator Vuyani Zondani explains the concept behind the Youth Hub and Ikamva Youth tutor Noxolo Mabona gives a stirring rendition of an untitled poem she wrote about the challenges facing young people today.

Mabona says she uses her passion for maths and science to get young people excited about learning. Visit our website to see her perform her poem.

Key stakeholders from Upstart youth development initiative, Village Scribe Association, Ikamva Youth, Access Music Project and Rhodes University's Community Engagement Office attended the event.
