This past weekend saw Kingswood Junior School host its second annual U13 Girls’ Water Polo Festival.

Arriving on the Friday afternoon, teams went on to play a minimum of seven games over the course of the two day tournament.

Clarendon U13A and B, Stirling, Hudson Park and Stanmore Academy from East London were some of the teams that took part.

They were joined by Collegiate from Port Elizabeth and the two host teams from Kingswood (U13A and Wyverns).

The Collegiate team won the tournament after beating Clarendon U13A in a thrilling display of water polo which saw the Port Elizabet team triumph 8-7.

Collegiate and Clarendon had been challenged throughout the tournament by competent teams such as those from Kingswood.

“The sport continues to grow in popularity at this level within the Eastern Cape and… this growth has also seen the increase in popularity of this particular event,” said Kingswood Head of Sport Pieter Serfontein.
