Tempers flared at the Makana municipality chambers on 6 November as DA councillors staged a walk-out before the meeting closed.

DA caucus leader Les Reynolds had on Thursday 31 October submitted a motion of no confidence against Makana municipality's executive mayor Zamuxolo Peter.
The motion cited, among other things that the mayor lacked political oversight and leadership over the numerous infrastructural and financial crises during his term of office.
It was also noted in the motion that the mayor had failed to adequately disclose details of the municipality's distressed financial position to Council and the MEC for Local Government.
The motion of no confidence in the mayor was seconded by councillor Brian Jackson.
ANC chief whip Vuyani Kolisi rejected the motion. Councillor Piryawaden Ranchhod seconded Kolisi and the Speaker declared the motion rejected.
