Before the end of this year and some time next year South Africans will queue up to register or cast their votes in the 2014 national government elections.

Posters advertising voter registration dates have sprung up all over the country – the days to do this will be 9 and 10 November 2013.

This will be an opportunity for citizens to raise their voices and choose a political party to best serve the country for the next five years.
A lot has happened in SA under the supervision of the ANC since 1994. We've had our ups and our downs.

Recently new parties have formed like Julius Malema's Economic Freedom Fighters and Mamphela Ramaphele's Agang.

Fresh blood will also be circulating in the election process next year in the form of thousands of young people who have come of age since the last time people made their way to the polls.

Armed with their identity documents, these young voters will now have a chance to participate in an important decision-making process for South Africa.

These voters may inject fresh energy into national politics, but then again the reluctance of many citizens to vote may also see the country thrown into a different kind sadness and silence.

Many people feel that government doesn't fulfil its promises or respond to the public's complaints.

I say think deep. Your vote is your voice. Speak and you will be heard.
