Two professional local boxers didn't bring medals home from the Sinyabi Boxing Tournament held in Mdantsane township, outside East London, last weekend.

Vuyani Swartbooi of Masibambane Boxing Club and Jongikhaya Bomvana of Mfuzo Boxing Camp both lost their fights at the Mdantsane Indoor Sport Centre on Sunday 13 October.

Speaking to Grocott's Mail on Wednesday, Masibambane coach Bulelani Ndwayana said Swartbooi lost against Lithemba Godze, from Mdantsane, in the fourth round by points.

Despite his boxer losing, Ndwayana says Swartbooi is doing very well.

"His performance showed that he was well trained and I'm happy about that," the coach said.

Ndwayana added that the fight was well balanced, and both boxers knew what they were doing.

Mfuzo Dyira, manager of Mfuzo Boxing Camp, said Bomvana's fight was supposed to take place on Saturday, but had to be postponed until the next morning because of a widespread powercut in Mdantsane.

Dyira said Bomvana lost on round three by knock out.
