This Makana Municipality fire truck had to be hauled back onto the R67 on Friday 4 October after it plunged off the road and down a two-metre drop about nine kilometres out of town.
According to a source, the truck was heading towards Grahamstown along the Port Alfred Road the night before when the driver decided to make a U-turn.
He allegedly slowed down to turn left in front of the Coleridge farm entrance before swinging hard right on to the opposite verge of the R67.
It's believed that the driver didn't see how narrow the verge was, which resulted in the emergency vehicle falling over the ledge on to its side. The truck didn't appear to be badly damaged on Friday morning and no one was hurt.

A tow truck recovered the fire-truck, which did not appear to be badly damaged on Friday morning.
