The Mayor's wait is over: he can now climb into his brand-new Toyota Fortuner before going about his daily duties.

Local dealership Settler City Toyota had to order the car especially from the manufacturer, as the ones in their showroom didn't meet all the municipality's specifications.

Municipal spokesperson Mncedisi Boma said the dealer didn't have the colour they wanted. It is rare to find a Fortuner in black, he said, which is why it had to be specially manufactured.

According to Boma, the mayoral vehicle only cost half of the R800 000 budgeted, so discussions are underway with regards to using the leftover money in the Rural Fund. The car was delivered to Mayor Zamuxolo Peter on 19 September.
