Eastern Cape Premier Noxolo Kiviet and her cabinet are said to be spending most of their three-day visit to the district next week in Makana Municipality.

Eastern Cape Premier Noxolo Kiviet and her cabinet are said to be spending most of their three-day visit to the district next week in Makana Municipality.

Activities on the premier's programme include unveiling portraits of struggle heroes at the city hall and officially opening the new state-of-the-art multi-purpose sports centre in Extension 6.

"We have invited 19 families of the heroes, and the premier will be unveiling the portraits on the 26th," said municipal spokesperson Mncedisi Boma. "A stakeholder engagement meeting will also be held in the new multi-purpose centre."

After a long wait, beneficiaries of 100 RDP houses in the Mayfield 2 housing project can also look forward to receiving their new homes from the premier.

Boma told Grocott's Mail that the main aim of the visit is to bring the government to the people.

"The premier and the executive committee from time to time embark on this kind of outreach," Boma said.

"Now they have chosen Cacadu District and identified Makana Municipality as a host from the 25th to the 27th of this month."
