The 2013 South African Shotokan Karate Academy (Saska) National Championships and World Union of Karate-do Federations (WUKF) Africa Invitational takes place at the Fish River Sun Hotel and Country Club Resort from Thursday 26 to Sunday 29 September.

The event is organised by the Saska East Cape Shotokan-Ryu. Gary Grapentin of the organising committee said the The 2013 WUKF Africa Invitational and Saska National Championships promises to produce karate-do of the highest standard "at one of the best venues in South Africa”.

Grapentin said the event would also serve to celebrate Shihan Koos Burger’s 70th birthday and his 50th year of practising karate.
Among the activities during the event, there will be a training session with Burger and Sensei Hanga Mihai on Thursday, as well as an officials' (referees and judges) course the same day.

Day One of the Saska National Championships takes place next Friday, followed by the Saska AGM. Saturday is Day Two of the Saska National Championships and Sunday is the Saska Sea Gashuku (training).

For all championship and gashuku enquiries contact Gary Grapentin at 073 3460 059 or garyg@geenet.co.za
