The largest annual cultural show in the Eastern Cape hosted by students will take place in Grahamstown next Saturday, 24 August. The concert, organised by the Rhodes University Hindu Students Society (HSS), will feature dance groups from Cape Town, the Geentanjali group from Port Elizabeth and performances by HSS members.

The event aims to bring together an eclectic mix of cultures in order to create a deeper understanding of Hindu traditions. “It is a celebration of the Hindu culture and it promises to bring people together,” said HSS chairperson, Gitika Manilal.

Included in the ticket price is a traditional three-course meal before the show. The evening will also have a fashion show and lucky draws.

The dress code is smart casual and people from all walks of life are invited to join in the fun-filled evening of dancing, good food and fellowship at the 1820 National Settlers’ Monument.

Tickets are R40 for HSS members and R50 for non-members. Transport to the Monument will be provided from the Great Hall on Prince Alfred Street from 5pm.

For more information contact Gitika Manilal on 079 515 9194.
