A scheduled power outage will take place from 5am to 7am on Friday 12 July and from 7am until 1pm on Sunday 14 July.

Muni manager Dr. Pravine Naidoo has released a statement alerting the public to the planned power outages.

"The purpose of the interruption is for a Makana Municipality contractor to carry out maintenance at the Sugarloaf substation," he said.

The outage will affect most of Grahamstown and residents are warned to treat electrical outlets as live while the power is out.

The city boundaries of the outage are as follows:

    • East: Currie Park, Lavender and Irving Heights, Ghost Town, Scott's Farm
