A stall-owner was the victim of an attempted theft at the Village Green this week.

Jewellery stall owner Joanne Becerra Hernandes said she was alone at her stall on Tuesday when two men entered her stall.
One of them occupied her attention by asking about the jewellery, while the other took her Apple iPhone 5, she said.

‘’He complimented my jewellery, saying it was nice and tried to fit it," Hernandes said.

"He spent too much time fitting the jewellery and when I turned back, looking for my phone in the charger, I saw the other guy putting it in his pocket.’’

Hernandes said when she asked him what he was doing, he said he was checking the time.

She called a security guard, who searched the man and found the phone.

Hernandes opened a case and the matter is under police investigation.

‘’We’ve been alerted with similar cases since Sunday,’’ security personnel confirmed.
