People from every corner of South Africa are missing one of the country’s best loved TV presenters,Vuyo Mbuli, who passed away last weekend while watching a rugby match with his son.
The reason he was so widely admired is because he reached out to everyone.
He loved talking to people and they loved talking to him.
Vuyo made an extra special effort to speak to all South Africans regardless of race, religion or political persuasion. He tried, and almost always succeeded, in greeting people in their own languages as he was capable of some chit chat in all 11 official languages and a few unofficial ones as well.
His face has been prominently displayed on a wide range of websites from the Independent electoral Commission to the ANC and just about every news site in the country this week.
He will be especially missed here in the Eastern Cape as he often visited these parts when he stayed at his house in Port Alfred.
His family are of course most directly affected by their sudden loss, but those who worked with Vuyo and those who watched him on TV will also be feeling a huge gap in their understanding of our country.
