A 44-year-old man was arrested on Wednesday, after the fatal stabbing of his father. The stabbing allegedly followed a fight about pension money.

Police spokesperson Captain Mali Govender said the incident took place around 8pm on Wednesday night at Vukani Location in Grahamstown.

"According to an eyewitness, there was an argument between father and son," Govender said.

The victim, who has been identified as Kwenteni Wilson Felisi had reportedly refused to hand over his pension money to the his son.

The 44-year-old suspect then allegedly stabbed his father in the upper body and fled the scene.

"Shortly after attending to the incident, members of the Grahamstown police proceeded to a nearby home and arrested the suspect," Govender said.

The police said Felisi was in his mid-70s.

A case of murder is under investigation. The suspect is due to appear in the Grahamstown Magistrate's Court soon.
